IGrib is a great App for Cruisers
My wife and I are full time live-aboard explorer - cruisers (moored in the Florida Keys as I write this).
We have been using iGrib for several weeks and must rave about how great an app it is. We depend on the winds to sail Angel Louise, our Catalac 12 Meter Catamaran. We have found the product superb up to now as we can access the Grib files showing relevant winds and expected weather for several days in the areas we sail.
We are familiar with using Grib files on our Mac with MacENC software and over Sailmail, but this is a super program for thos with an iPad, iPhone or iPod.
I hope the developers continue to extend the product so as to show vessel position via built-in gps chp or an add-on gps plugin like the Bad Elf gps, but the current version is great. We will use it when we have internet along the US east coast and hopefully in WiFi areas to download the seven day forward looking winds forecasts this utility picks up. I can be contacted at edkelly at netins dot net if anyone has questions.
It doesn't import grb files, you have to download their file which s huge, 1.2 MB for the US. Unless that is corrected it is not worth the $4.99 price. Wish the description was not so mis-leading.
